Data controller
Data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, and profile photo (if you upload one). Stored in Firebase Authentication and Firestore.
- Personal dates: the dates, names, descriptions and reminder choices you add. Stored in Firestore under your user document and accessible only to you, unless you turn on sharing (see "How reminders and notifications work").
- Profile photo: stored as a resized data URL on your Firestore user document. Not shared publicly.
- Sign-in providers: if you use Google or Apple Sign-In, the provider's authentication token is exchanged with Firebase. We never receive your provider password.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not run advertising or third-party ad trackers.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android).
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Anonymous usage statistics
We use Firebase Analytics to collect pseudonymous, aggregated usage statistics (for example, how many people add a date or set a reminder). We do not collect advertising identifiers, and these events are not linked to your name or email.
Error reporting
We use Sentry to log application errors and crashes so we can fix them. Error reports contain technical details (stack traces, app version, device platform). Personal identifiers such as your email and IP address are stripped before reports are sent.
Smart suggestions (AI features)
Some optional features use artificial intelligence to generate suggestions: birthday/celebration wishes, gift ideas, and understanding a date you type or speak in your own words. When you use one of these features, only the text you entered for that request is sent to third-party AI providers to produce the suggestion:
- Groq, Inc. — runs the language models that generate wishes, gift ideas and date parsing. See Groq Privacy Policy.
- Google (Gemini API) — used as a fallback when Groq is unavailable. See Gemini API Terms.
We do not send your account email, your stored dates, or your profile to these providers — only the specific text for the request you made. Per these providers' API terms, your input is not used to train their models. These features are optional: if you do not use them, no data is sent to any AI provider.
How reminders and notifications work
Personal reminders you set on a date are scheduled locally on your device by your operating system. The date is not sent to a server for personal reminders.
Family & couple sharing is optional and off by default. If you turn it on and share your code, then when you add a date your device sends the notification text (the date's title and a short message) to our server and to Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers it to the devices of people who follow your code. If you keep sharing off, no date information leaves your device for notifications.
Where data is stored
Data is hosted by Google Firebase and processed in Google Cloud data centers. See Firebase Privacy.
International transfers
Our providers (Google Firebase, Sentry, and the AI providers above) may process your data on servers located outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area and Turkey. Where this happens, the transfer relies on the safeguards those providers offer under applicable data-protection law.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process your data on these bases: to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract) for account and date data; our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, for error reporting and anonymous statistics; and your consent for the optional AI features and optional sharing, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and date data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your authentication record and personal dates are permanently removed.
Your rights
- Access: you can see all your dates and profile data inside the app.
- Export (portability): you can download your own data at any time from Profile → Download My Data, as JSON, CSV, or an .ics calendar file.
- Rectification: you can edit your profile and dates in the app.
- Deletion: you can delete your account from Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your authentication record and all personal dates.
- Objection & withdrawal: you can turn off the optional features (AI, sharing) at any time.
- Complaint: you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Turkey, the KVKK authority; in the EU, your national data-protection authority).
California residents
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Children
Qvelly is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified inside the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
